Bring Your Own Device

Starting in the Fall of 2012, students in the High School and Middle School will be able to participate in a Bring Your Own Device initiative. The aim of this initiative is to allow students to use their own electronic devices on the school network in accordance with Board Policies 815 and 237. Devices include, but are not limited to

·         SmartPhones (iPhone, Android, and Blackberry)

  • iPads
  • iTouch
  • Netbooks
  • Laptops
  • Kindle/Nook

Students will be able to register up to five devices to be used on the school network. In order to use the school network, students will need a signed Acceptable Use Policy, parents will need to sign a consent form, and a small technology fee will need to be paid.

The technology fee is a $35 annual fee that includes many benefits. These include

  • Access to the School Network for up to five devices
  • Microsoft Windows 7 Professional – A single annual license that allows you to upgrade your personally owned computer (Retail Value = $199.95)
  • Microsoft Office 2010 Professional – A single annual license that allows you to install on your personally owned computer. (Retail Value = $99.99) Software titles include
    • Microsoft Word
    • Microsoft Excel
    • Microsoft PowerPoint
    • Microsoft Publisher
    • Microsoft Outlook
    • Microsoft Access
  • Ability to “remote” in to school to access school files and software
  • Ability to print to a central location (a monthly quota will apply)
  • Ability to upgrade software at no cost when it is released

When on the school network, all network traffic will be filtered and may be monitored.
