Assessment Overview
The District recognizes that a system of assessing student achievement can help students, teachers, and parents to understand and evaluate a student's progress toward educational goals and academic standards and uses a variety of assessment strategies to aid in this process. The District's assessment system includes a variety of assessment strategies which may include: evaluation of written work by students; evaluation of scientific experiments conducted by students; evaluation of works of art or music, theatrical or dance performances by students; evaluations of other demonstrations, performances, products, or projects by students related to specific academic standards; nationally-available achievement tests; diagnostic assessments; evaluations of portfolios of student work related to achievement of academic standards; and other measures, as appropriate, which may include standardized tests.
